From Fear to Flow

It didn’t start with a grand plan.

It started on a mountain - skis on, heart racing, and a voice in my head whispering:

“I used to love this. What’s happening to me?”

Working for a ski school, I witnessed countless moments of quiet hesitation, especially from women.

I saw it in their eyes at the booking desk. I heard it in their voices on the lift. That subtle blend of excitement and dread.

What if I can’t? What if I fall? What if everyone else is better than me?

I recognised it… because I felt it too.

Somewhere in my 40s, and especially after having my daughter, I noticed a shift.

The fearless, throw-yourself-down-the-mountain version of me? She’d gone a bit quiet.

In her place was someone suddenly aware of risk. Aware of what was at stake.

Aware of the little person waiting for me at the bottom of the run.

Enter: my well-meaning, highly-skilled (and slightly infuriating) husband, a ski instructor with a knack for offering feedback at just the wrong time.

Let’s just say, skiing together became… a test of marital resilience.

But in between the “helpful” pointers, we started having deeper conversations, about confidence, fear, and how mindset shapes everything on the slopes.

That’s when the penny dropped.

It wasn’t just technical instruction women needed, it was mental instruction.

And that’s when I knew I’d found my path.

Why I Started Coaching

I didn’t become a mindset coach because I had it all figured out.

I became one because I didn’t.

Because I knew what it was like to feel capable in every other area of life (well… mostly!), yet frozen on skis.

Because I knew the frustration of telling yourself “I shouldn’t be afraid”… and still feeling it anyway.

So I trained. I studied. I became certified.

And then I started helping women just like me, women who wanted to fall back in love with skiing, to feel free again on the mountain, and to stop missing out on the joy they once knew.

What I discovered along the way?

This work - the real, transformational kind - is the most inspiring thing I’ve ever done.

Watching someone go from fear to flow...

Hearing their laughter after a run they never thought they’d try...

Seeing their smile as they remember what confidence feels like...

It never gets old.

I may not ski as fast as I used to. But I ski with more purpose, more presence, and more pride.

And every client I work with reminds me that fear isn’t the end of the story. It’s the beginning of a new one.

Final Thought

Whether you’re a seasoned skier who’s lost her nerve, or someone staring up at the mountain wondering if you’ll ever feel confident again, just know this:

You're not broken. You're just human.

And with the right mindset, you can come back stronger than ever.
