If at First You Don’t Succeed… Ask ChatGPT (and Don’t You Dare Quit)
There I was, trying to write a simple social media post.
One that sounded like me.
That didn’t feel salesy or like it had been copied from a Pinterest quote board.
One that might actually connect with someone, somewhere.
Cut to: several broken pencils, five unfinished drafts, a cold cup of coffee, and me looking suspiciously like the skeleton in the image above - face down on my laptop, sobbing onto my desk, wondering how the creative gene skipped me and landed squarely with my siblings.
We’ve all been there. Whether it's a caption, a launch, a pitch, or just showing up online when your brain feels like soup… it’s rough.
And yes, I eventually asked ChatGPT for help.
And no, I’m not ashamed.
Progress Isn’t Always Pretty
We love a good “overnight success” story. You know the ones, someone posts a reel, wakes up to 100K followers, launches a course, retires to Bali. Good for them.
But for the rest of us? The process looks more like:
Overthinking every word
Comparing ourselves to someone who’s five years ahead
Trying again
Crying (optional but common)
Asking for help
Trying again… and again!
It’s messy. It’s frustrating. And it’s completely normal.
You’re Not Failing… You’re Iterating
That post you didn’t publish? Still progress.
That caption you deleted four times? Still writing.
That moment where you muttered “I’m not cut out for this”? Still learning.
Every time you show up - imperfectly, inconsistently, awkwardly - you’re building something. Confidence. Skill. Resilience.
And, fun fact: those things don’t show up all at once. They arrive through repetition.
What Helps Me Keep Going (When I’d Rather Not)
Zooming Out:
When I get stuck, it’s usually because I’m too close to it. Taking a step back reminds me I’m not curing global unrest with an Instagram post, I’m just trying to connect.
Letting Go of Perfect:
Done is better than perfect. And posted is better than over-polished and never seen.
Remembering Who I’m Talking To:
There’s always one person who needed to hear what you almost didn’t say. Write for her.
Getting Support:
Whether it’s a coach, a friend, or yes, even AI, you don’t have to do it all solo. We are not wired to thrive in isolation.
Final Thought
You don’t need to nail it first time.
You don’t need to go viral.
You don’t need to wait until you’re “ready.”
You just need to try. To press publish. To speak up - even if your voice shakes (or your skeleton collapses). Because showing up as you are matters more than showing up perfectly.
So if today you’re surrounded by broken pencils and open tabs and you’re thinking, “What’s the point?”
This is the point.
You’re doing it.
Keep going.
